Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has championed record voter turnout in the second phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on April 26 in 88 parliamentary seats across 13 states and UTs. The Prime Minister called on young voters to participate in large numbers because “a high voter turnout supports democracy.”
Congress leaders Malikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi also pleaded with voters to “save the Constitution”.
Voting takes place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tripura led the voter turnout charts till 5 pm (77.53%), while Uttar Pradesh had the lowest turnout (52.74%), according to Election Commission of India data released on Friday.
Manipur (76.06%), West Bengal (71.84%), Chhattisgarh (72.13%) and Assam (70.66%) had a good turnout till 5 pm.
15.88 million people can vote in this phase. There are 8.08 million men, 7.8 million women and 5929 third gender voters. There are 3.28 million 20-29 year olds among the voters. This phase includes 34.8 million first-time voters.
In phase 1 on April 19, 109 mandates were voted on. About 62% of voters came in the first phase. The votes for all seven phases of the Lok Sabha will be counted on June 4.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday termed the BJP-led NDA’s unprecedented support in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections as “too good”.
After the vote, X commented, “Phase two was too fantastic! Thanks to Indians who voted today. An unprecedented support for the NDA would surprise the opposition even more.” Voters want a good NDA government. Youth and women voters support NDA,” Modi said.
After the first phase of polling on April 19, the prime minister said the ruling alliance had a huge response. He said that the NDA is getting an unprecedented number of votes across India.

On Friday, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav said the campaign to remove Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from the Lok Sabha polls is “long”. Yadav, who just announced his nomination for the Kannauj Lok Sabha, said that though everyone will accept the SC EVM decision, the fight against them will continue.
“VVPAT, EVMs and ballot fight will continue. Everyone will accept the Supreme Court verdict but the fight will continue. The SP chief told reporters in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh that the war will continue.”
On Friday, the Supreme Court rejected all requests to verify votes cast by electronic voting machines (EVMs) using VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) tickets.
